NO, please do not precut any of your shirts. While we understand that this may save you a little money on shipping, it may cost you more in the end. When shirts are precut sometimes graphics have been cut off center or we end up having to reduce the size of your squares. This can also make parts of your shirt unusable. We need a minimum of a 16”x16” block for our quilt squares. When piecing we try to use material from the actual shirt to ensure fabric and color matching. Not precutting will reduce the chance of additional piecing charges.
When your quilt is finished and ready to ship we will email you a final invoice. You can pay directly from your invoice link. Once your final balance has been received your quilt will be shipped directly to you.
Yes, we use a light interfacing on the backs of the shirts. This is a standard practice used by experienced quilters for years. This adds durability to your t-shirt squares and reinforces your shirt. The interfacing does not affect the softness of your quilt. Shirts without interfacing can become distorted during the quilting process.
This really depends on the size of quilt you desire. You can refer to the style and pricing page for specifics. (Styles & Pricing ) Quilts look the best when they are balanced with rows. A T-shirt quilt with 20 squares would be five rows of four squares. The best number of shirts to send are: 16, 20, 25, 30, 36, 42, 49. Keep in mind you can use fronts and backs of T-shirts and you can also use multiple small graphics to make one square. We are also available to answer questions if you are unsure how many shirts you need (extras are never a bad thing!)
Absewlutley! If you have a desired layout we recommend you laying out your shirts and taking a picture. Pictures can be emailed and included with your order form.
I love post it notes! If you have shirts that have specific instructions feel free to pin a post it note to the material of the shirt. Please do not pin through the graphic. Typically, we use the side that has the largest graphic, but we understand that these are your shirts and certain graphics may hold special significance. If you want both sides to be used simply note that on the shirt. You can also mark multiple small graphics to be used in a pieced square. Please do not use masking tape or duct tape, these both leave a residue on the fabric.
Shipping costs vary based on the size of the box. Using the smallest box possible is best. We recommend rolling or folding your shirts as small as possible and placing them in a plastic bag. The plastic bag helps to ensure that all of your shirts arrive together in case your box is damaged during shipping. Using a box that is too large is prone to crushing during the shipping process. Use quality packing tape on the top and bottom of your box. Please do not ask for a confirmed signature. This prolongs your box's arrival if we have to go to the post office to sign for your box. If you need a signature, please use UPS. They always require a signature and they will redeliver the next day if we are Not there.
When washing your quilt, use cold water with a mild soap on a short gentle cycle. You can use a cup of white vinegar in the wash cycle to help keep your colors bright. Your quilt will be heavy when wet, use care when removing from the washer. You can dry on a medium heat, be sure to adjust multiple times during the cycle. This helps to ensure that all areas of your quilt will dry.
I have been sewing since I was a child, and learned under the watchful eye of my Grandmother. I have been making quilts since I was a teenager and owned a commercial embroidery business in FL. I married a Louisiana native and we are blessed with two amazing little girls. Since moving to Louisiana, I started sharing my love of quilting with others. I love taking scraps of memories and making them into a treasure that lasts a lifetime. I believe each quilt tells a story as it is woven together. My husband Joe works by my side and is the best assistant anyone could ask for. He is a master cutter and helps wherever needed. We look forward to quilting many more memories over the years. Thank you for trusting us with yours! #quiltyourmemories
